UPDATE: An IAR 99 Falcon plane crashed in Nicolae Balcescu commune (Bacau)/ the pilots catapulted/ the rescue team is searching for them

The pilots of the military plane from Bacau garrison that crashed Monday, in Nicolae Balcescu commune, managed to get catapulted, their condition being well, confirmed for MEDIAFAX, the MAPN (National Defence Ministry) representatives.

“An IAR 99 falcon craft, with double command from the 95 Base Air Force “Captain Hero aviator Alexandru Stefanescu” in Bacau crashed today, 16th of July, around 13.30 pm, in the commune Nicola Balcescu, Bacau. The two pilots managed to get catapulted, the rescue teams are connected to them and already started the recovery operations. The leaders from the 95 Base Air Force already applied the intervention plan for this kind of situations”, says MAPN through a press release on Monday, for MEDIAFAX.

The Minister of National Defence, Mihai Fifor, together with the chief of the Major State of Defence, General Nicolae Ciuca, are already on their way to the crashing zone.

According to the procedures, a commission from the Major State of the Air Forces will investigate the causes of the event.

The mayor from Letea Veche, Petru Dochiei, said for MEDIAFAX that the wreck fell in Galbeni-Letea Veche lake.
