SARS-CoV-2 travel advisory – Europe (October 21st)
Sorin ButiriThe high number of infections with the novel coronavirus in many of the European countries pushed the authorities to upgrade their protection measures. Among these countries, there are Ireland, Ukraine, Serbia and Poland.

Italy
Starting with October 19th, in some Italian regions, one might be asked to do a coronavirus test if s/he spends 48 hours or two nights in a hospital, for any reason. If the result is positive, that person must be quarantined for 10-21 days.
Malta
Starting with October 19, it is mandatory to wear a protection mask, including while taking the ferry, which is normally transiting to Gozo.
Starting the same day, bars will only open if they serve food, but not alcohol. Also, bars will be closed at 11 pm. Clubs are also closed. No parties on boats are allowed. Social gatherings for more than 10 people are prohibited. Masks are mandatory in all public space, inside and outside (kids younger than 3 years make an exception).
Slovenia
On October 19, the Slovenian government announced that the National protection and rescue plan came into force for 30 days. The new measures came into force on October 20th.
In nine of the 11 administrative regions there is a “red code” declared. These are: central Slovenia, Gorenjska, Goriška, Koroška, Podravska, Pomurska, Primorsko-Notranjska, Savinjska, South-East Sloveniei, Zasavska and Posavska.
Starting with October 20th, the following measures will apply on Slovenia’s entire territory:
- all public gatherings can be no bigger than six people. All public or private gatherings involving a bigger number of people are prohibited;
- movement and circulation is prohibited between 9 pm and 6 am. Excepted from this rule are those providing basic services and those working in the health services and emergency situations.
In the “red” zones (which include also Ljubljana), the following rules will be applied, besides the aforementioned:
-protection masks must be worn in all public spaces, at any time;
- restaurants and bars are closed. Also, gyms and sports facilities dedicated to group sports actions are closed.
-beauty salons might only treat one person at a time;
-public events are prohibited, except for those authorized by the National Public Health Atuhority;
-unimportant visits to the hospital and dentist are cancelled.
Moving from one region to another is also prohibited, except for: going to and from work; developing economic, agricultural or forest activities, providing health services and protection of goods and people, taking care of family members, going to embassies and consulates.
Liechtenstein
Starting October 20th, social gatherings for more than 15 people are prohibited in public spaces. Wearing a mask is mandatory in public spaces, like shops, banks, postal offices, museums, libraries and cinemas. Wearing the mask is, also, mandatory when traveling with public transport. Kids younger than 12 are excepted from the rule. People who cannot wear the mask due to medical reasons are, also, spared from the rule.
Switzerland
Starting October 19th:
- wearing a protection mask is mandatory in public spaces, like shops, banks, postal offices, museums, libraries, cinemas, inside the zoos and botanical gardens, restaurants, bars and discos. Also, wearing a maks is mandatory in all airports, train stations and public transport, as well as during flights to and from Switzerland. Kids younger than 12 and people who prove that they cannot wear a mask due to medical reasons are excepted from this measure.
-in restaurants or similar places (clubs, bars, etc.) or private gatherings with more than 15 people eating or drinking is only allowed when seated. People who get up from the table must wear a mask;
-gatherings in public spaces cannot be bigger than 15 people.
