Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Russian Federation declared as personae non gratae ten officials working within the Romanian Embassy in Moscow, this being a reaction to the decision taken by Romania on 5 April to declare personae non gratae ten officials from the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bucharest.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalls that the decision of the Romanian authorities was based on the activities and actions of the ten persons, who contravened the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
