”Mr. President-elect,

It is my great honor and pleasure to congratulate you for being elected as the President of the United States of America.

Romania, as a trusted strategic partner of the United States, stays firmly committed to continuing to promote our common goals of strategic security, defence and economy. Your term as President of the United States of America will certainly mark the further strengthening of the already excellent cooperation between Romania and the United States, whereat you have already made a substantial contribution, as vice-president. Therefore, I remember with great pleasure the visit in Romania, in 2014, as well as the personal support you constantly gave to my country.

I look forward to celebrating, in 2021, the 10th anniversary of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership for the 21st century between Romania and the United States, adopted during your term as Vice President.

Romania and the United States share the values ​​of democracy, human rights, good governance and the rule of law and our Strategic Partnership is making a great contribution to the democratic transformation of my country. Romania is supporting  the United States to meet the current challenges, from health to the economy and climate change, and from security to human rights, our goal being to ensure a better future for our peoples.

As a strategic partner of the United States and a NATO ally, Romania stays committed to contributing to burden-sharing and to continuing to contribute to the security, prosperity and resilience of the global democracy community."
