President Klaus Iohannis pays a state visit in Estonia

Romania's president Klaus Iohannis will pay a state visit to the Republic of Estonia, in Tallinn, on Wednesday and Thursday, during which he will hold talks with senior Estonian officials and visit the e-Estonia Centre and the Unicorn Squad start-up, a vocational school of robotics.

President Klaus Iohannis will pay a state visit to the Republic of Estonia in Tallinn on Wednesday and Thursday.

„The visit takes place in the context of the centenary of the Romanian-Estonian diplomatic relations and of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations, as well as a result of the constant Romanian-Estonian dialogue at a high level in recent years. During the visit, the president of Romania will have political consultations with the president of the Republic of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid. Also, president Klaus Iohannis will have meetings with the prime minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, as well as with the president of the Estonian Parliament, Jüri Ratas”, the Presidential Administration reports.

According to the quoted source, among the topics that will be on the agenda of the Romanian president's talks with senior Estonian officials are strengthening the bilateral relationship, including economic and sectoral cooperation between the two states, with a focus on the digital sector, combating the COVID-19 pandemic and topics on the European agenda: the future of the European Union, the European Recovery Plan, the green and digital transition, the enlargement of the Union and the EU Eastern Partnership, with a focus on developments in the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.

"At the same time, the talks will focus on Romanian-Estonian cooperation within NATO, including the security situation in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea, but also in the context of the results of the NATO Summit of June 14, 2021, as well as cooperation between the two countries, within the Bucharest 9 Format and the Three Seas Initiative. During the visit, the President of Romania will lay a wreath at the War of Independence Monument and will visit Tallinn City Hall, the e-Estonia Centre and the start-up Unicorn Squad, a professional robotics school ", the Presidency's communiqué reads.
