Coronavirus and vaccines

  • Vaccination in Romania: In the last 24 hours, more than 52.000 people got vaccinated. Totally, more than 5.6 million people got the vaccine, with more than 5.4 getting both doses.
  • Coronavirus in Romania: In the last 24 hours, there were recorded 8.292 new SARS CoV-2 cases, 133 deaths, and in ICU there are now 1.468 people hospitalized.
  • EMA recommends the third vaccine dose. The European Medicine Agency Committee (EMA) said, on Monday, that an additional vaccine dose against COVID-19 with Pfizer/BioNTech and Spikevax/Moderna can be administrated to people who have a weak immune system, at least 28 days after the second dose, and to normal people, six months after the second dose.   • Chirurgical interventions and hospitalizations which are not urgent are suspended in the Romanian hospitals. The public hospitals are suspending for 30 days the chirurgical interventions and treatments which are not urgent, said, on Monday, the State Secretary, Raed Arafat. (Aleph News)
  • Romania activated the Civilian Protection Mechanism. On Tuesday, the Civilian Protection Mechanism will be activated, at Ministry of Health’s request, for the medicine Tocilizumab. (Aleph News)

Global political and military events

  • Afghanistan, dinner with the ambassadors. The leader of the Taliban group, Mullah Baradar, has invited, on Monday, the ambassadors to a dinner. Only the Russian, Chinese and Pakistani ambassadors were present. (AP)
  • The Nord Stream 2 pipeline was filled with natural gases. Gazprom has announced, on Monday, that it filled the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Russia cannot deliver yet gases through the Nord Stream 2, because it did not get all the permissions. (AP)
  • More than 50 Chinese military aircrafts have entered in Taiwan’s space. The Chinese armed forces sent, on Monday, 52 military aircrafts in the Air Defence Zone of Taiwan, a record for a single day. (AP)

Romania’s security and defence

  • The censure of motion. The censure of motion initiated by the Social Democratic Party will be debated and voted on Tuesday by the Parliament’s plenum. Called `Stop poverty, expenses and infractors. Down with Citu’s Government`, the motion was initiated by 157 deputies and senators from SDP. (Agerpres)
  • President Iohannis, at the EC reunion and the EU summit. President Klaus Iohannis will participate, on Tuesday and Wednesday, at the informal meeting of the European Counsil and the EU Summit – Western Balkans, which will take place in Slovenia, Brdo. (Presidential Administration).
