Coronavirus and vaccines

  • Vaccination in Romania: More than 1.9 million people got vaccinated (more than 973.000 with both doses). In the last 24 hours, there were vaccinated more than 54.000 people (more than 30.000 with both doses).
  • Coronavirus in Romania: In the last 24 hours, there were recorded 4.439 new SARS CoV-2 cases, 117 deaths and in ICU there are now 1.386 people hospitalized.
  • On Monday, more than 300.000 Pzifer doses get to Romania.  A new batch of 345.150 Pfizer BionTech vaccine doses get to Romania on Monday, on Otopeni, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara airports, according to the National Committee for the  Coordination of COVID-19 Vaccination Activities.

Global political and military events

  • Myanmar: EU and the USA are criticizing the crimes committed during the weekend. The European Union, through the High representative Josep Borrell, has criticized on Sunday evening “an unacceptable escalation of violence”, after in the weekend more than 100 civilians were killed, among them seven kids, and more than 500 were arrested. The US president Joe Biden has also stated on Sunday that the oppression of the Myanmar protests is “absolutely scandalous”, says AP, according to Agerpress.
  • The US-India naval drill. The ships group led by the US Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier has trained in the weekend next to the Indian air and naval forces, in the Indian Ocean, says US Navy.
  • The transformation of the British armed forces means 10.000 jobs. The last plans for the transformation of the British Armed Forces, presented last week, means 10.000 jobs for the planned modernization and procurements, said the Minister of Defence on a social media platform.

Romania’s defence and security

  • 11 Romanian ships carrying animals are blocked in the Suez Canal. More than 130.000 sheeps from Romania are blocked on 11 ships at the entry in the Suez. Canal, their situation being desperate due to the lack of food and water, says Digi24.
  • 17 years since the NATO accession. On March 29th 2004, Romania was becoming a North-Atlntic Alliance member state with full rights of, an importnat moment for the Romanian politics.
