Coronavirus and vaccines
- Vaccination in Romania: In the last 24 hours, more than 60.000 people got vaccinated (more than 37.000 with both doses). Totally, more than 4.3 million people got the vaccine, with more than 3.6 getting both doses.
- Coronavirus in Romania: In the last 24 hours, there were recorded 196 new SARS CoV-2 cases, 84 deaths and in ICU there are now 365 people hospitalized.
Global military and political events
- The US will support Israel regardless of the government it has. The Israeli Defence Minister, Benny Gantz, who was in the United States on Thursday, received guarantees that Israel will have US support regardless of the government it has, says AP.
- US sanctions for 59 Chinese companies. The Biden Administration is extending the action field of a presidential decree given by former president Trump, by which he was prohibiting the US investments in Chinese companies supporting the Chinese Armed Forces, including the selling of tracking technology, says The Washington Post, quoted by Digi24.
- Joe Biden will meet, in Europe, with Boris Johnson, Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan. Joe Biden will meet, in his first foreign trip as president of the United States, with prime-minister Boris Johnson, on June 10th, before the G7 summit, to take place between 11 and 13 of June, in Cronwall, south-west England. On June 13th he will meet with Queen Elizabeth II, at Windsor Castel, and on June 14th will go to Brussels, at the NATO summit, where he will have a meeting with the Turkish president Recep Erdogan. On June 15th he will participate at the US-EU summit, where he will meet King Philip of Belgium and prime-minister Alexander de Croo. On June 16th he will get to Geneva to meet with Vladimir Putin.
- Russia and Belarus are enhancing their secrete services cooperation. The espionage agencies in Russia and Belarus have announced on Thursday that they will jointly combat the „disrupting” Western activities. Sergey Nariskin, the SVR chief, the Russian Federation’s Foreign Intelligence Service met with his KGB counterpart, IvanTertel, and agreed, in the „old traditional brotherhood spirit” to cooperate in order to fight against „the destabilization of the political and social-economic situation in the Union State”, says Digi24.
Romania’s defence and security
- The energy state companies will invest more of the 2020 profit. Romania’s government will not ask Romgaz and Nuclearelectrica companies to increase from 50% to 90% the 2020 profits quota to go to the state budget as dividends as it did recently with two companies, because the state energy societies have big investment objectives, said, on Thursday, the Energy minister, Virgil Popescu, according to Digi24.
- Citu’s cloud, 10 time more expensive than Dancila’s cloud. The central public institutions will be connected in a single network and one interoperable database through a governmental cloud, wherefore the Government has included in the NRRP a 500 million budget, said, on Thursday, prime-minister Citu, according to Hotnews. There are talks about this bold governmental cloud since the PSD government, but then the proposed budget was 45 million dollars, also said the quoted source.
