Coronavirus and vaccines

  • Vaccination in Romania: In the last 24 hours, more than 55.000 people got vaccinated (more than 36.000 with both doses). Totally, more than 4.3 million people got the vaccine, with more than 3.6 getting both doses.
  • Coronavirus in Romania: In the last 24 hours, there were recorded 164 new SARS CoV-2 cases, 62 deaths and in ICU there are now 391 people hospitalized.
  • Kids’ vaccination. Colonel doctor Valeriu Gheorghita, president of CNCAV, has vaccinated, on Wednesday, in `Kids’ World Park, and offered diplomas to the first Bucharest teenagers aged 12-15 who came to get the vaccine.

Global political and military events

  • Benjamin Netanyahu, pushed aside. Eight parties in Israel got to an agreement to govern without Benjamin Netanyahu’s party, the prime minister to have the longest mandate in country’s history. The prime-minister position will be rotational, first to get it to be Naftali Bennett.
  • Israel is asking the US for 1$ billion to upgrade the Iron Dome. The Defence Minister is visiting the US today to ask the military officials for 1$ billion to upgrade the Iron Dome system and buy different military equipment, says AP.
  • US – Saudi Arabia discussions on the Yemen conflict. The Pentagon chief, Lloyd Austin has discussed on Wednesday with the Saudi prince Mohammed bin Salman, presenting him the US’s will to help Saudi Arabia defend its territory, said the Defense Department, according to Reuters.
  • Iranian ships get to the Atlantic. Several Iranian military ships, among them a frigate and a logistic ship with seven quick boats are arriving today in the Atlantic Ocean, being monitored by the Pentagon. The US officials have stated for Politico that the ships might go to Venezuela.

      Romania's security and defence

  • The EC wants us in the Schengen Space. The European Commission presented, on Wednesday, a reform strategy for the European free circulation Schengen Space, proposing measures to improve the foreign borders management and complete the accession process of Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia.
  • The fire from Brazi was stopped, one person is dead. The fireworkers intervention at the dangerous discards incinerator’s fire from Brazi continued during the night as well, one person being found dead.
  • In Galati the biggest construction of a military ship built in Romania has started. On Wednesday, a ceremony took place for the construction by the Damen company of the Combat Support Ship, built for the Dutch Naval Forces. The ship will be 180 meters long, with 22 meters width and will have 150 sailors on board.
