  • Vaccination in Romania: In the last 24 hours, more than 11.000 people got vaccinated. Totally, more than 8,06 million people got the vaccine, with more than 7,97 getting both doses and 2,37 of them getting the third dose. (Press release)
  • Coronavirus in Romania: In the last 24 hours, there were recorded 19.668 SARS CoV-2 cases, 51 deaths, and in ICU there are now 861 people hospitalized. (Press release)

Global political and military events

  • The United States and Great Britain are preparing sanctions on Russia. The United State and Great Britain are preparing sanctions on Russia if it attacks Ukraine, among them being also the sanctioning of Russian oligarchs close to president Putin. (Mediafax)
  • NATO is worried about Europe’s energetic security. Russia is the biggest natural gases supplier of the European continent. So, Jens Stoltenberg has underlined the necessity to diversify the sources the EU is getting energy. (Mediafax)
  • North Korea did the biggest ballistic missiles test since 2017, the US is asking for direct discussions. North Korea has confirmed it tested, on Sunday, an intermediary range of action ballistic missile, Hwasong-12. The test is the biggest since 2017, the seventh of January and experts say it could hit with no issues the US military base in Guam. Following the test, the US asked for direct discussions with the Pyongyang regime. (AFP)
  • The socialist party of prime-minister Costa won the elections in Portugal. The socialist prime-minister Antonio Costa won the legislative elections that took place on Sunday, ensuring an unexpected majority, 41.07%. (AFP)
  • UN Report: The Taliban killed more than 100 former Afghan officials. The Taliban and their allies have killed more than 100 Afghan officials, members of the security forces and collaborators of the international military mission from Afghanistan. Also, it executed without a trial more than 50 ISIS terrorists. (Reuters)
  • Israel attacked Syria. Many missiles have exploded in a Syrian military base near Damascus. Local sources said there were no victims, only material damages. (Reuters)

Romania's defense and security

  • The Government adopts GD for the organization of the Census of Population and Housing in Romania. The government is to approve, on Monday, in a meeting organized in hybrid format, a series of decisions regarding the organization and development of the Census of Population and Housing in Romania, a process postponed in 2021 for the current year due to the pandemic.   • Several road sections in Romania are closed due to snow. The Infotrafic Center from the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police informs that, on Monday morning, due to the unfavorable meteorological conditions, the following sections of roads are closed to public traffic: DN 67C Novaci - Rânca, on kilometer section 16 - 34, in Gorj county, DJ 750 Gârda de Sus - Sfoartea, from Alba county and DJ 687E Ruda - Poeniţa Voinii from Hunedoara county. On several roads in the counties of Alba, Argeş, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Braşov, Covasna, Cluj, Caraş-Severin, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Maramureş, Mureş, Neamţ, Sibiu, Suceava, Vâlcea and Vrancea, it is difficult to drive.
