Coronavirus and vaccines

  • Vaccination in Romania: Romania has vaccinated 1.5% of the population, says colonel Valeriu Ghita, the coordinator of the vaccination campaign. Almost 2 million people were vaccinated (more than 1 million with both doses). In the last 24 hours, more than 57.000 people got the vaccine (more than 32.000 with both doses).
  • Coronavirus in Romania: In the last 24 hours, there were recorded 6.115 new SARS CoV-2 cases, 136 deaths, and in ICU there are now 1.434 people hospitalized.
  • ICU in mobile units. Raed Arafat said on Facebook that the ICU mobile units will be used as additional units for the ICU beds. There are two such units in Bucharest now, at the Marius Nasta Institute and the Emergency Hospital Sf. Ioan. Due to the increasing number of patients, doctors from other counties came to Bucharest to help their colleagues.

Global political and military events

  • The EU is organizing a reunion on US’s return to the Iranian Nuclear Agreement. The EU is organizing, on Friday, a reunion of the mixed commission on the Iranian Nuclear Agreement on the possibility for the United States to get back to this treaty, says the France-Presse Agency and the Mediapart French agency.
  • Russia is concerning Europe. Russia has explained the military maneuvers at Europe’s borders, after EUCOM has raised the threat level: „The Russian Federation is freely transferring its Armed Forces on its territory”.
  • The United States has asked Russia to stop intimidating Ukraine: “We oppose any aggressive action that is intimidating or threatening our partner, Ukraine”, said the US diplomacy spokesperson, Ned Price.
  • The pro-Putin bloc in Europe. The Hungarian, Polish and Italian prime-ministers has set up, in Budapest, on Thursday, a conservative alliance, close to the Kremlin leader, said the PPE leader, the Polish Donald Tusk. If they would join forces, Matteo Slavini, the leader of the extreme-right Italian group Liga, the party of prime-minister Viktor Orban, Fidesz, and Mateusz Morawiecki with his League and Order movement could create the second political force in the European Parliament and could influence the EU, says AP.

Romania’s security and defence

  • The fifth days of protests. In the fifth day of protests it was recorded the smallest level of participation to protests, says Mediafax.
  • The deadline for closing the commercial spaces from the subway is close. The deadline for closing the commercial spaces inside the subway will get to an end on Friday, April 2nd, says a notification sent by Metrorex to the company that manages these units.
