Minister of National Defence, Mihai Fifor: Romania wants PESCO, EDF and CARD’s stabilization

Romania is interested in the stabilization of the projects and initiatives of cooperation from the communitarian defence and security – PESCO, EDF, CARD, said Mihai Fifor, the Minister of Defence, who is until Friday in his official visit in Germany.

“The Minister Fifor showed Romania’s interest in the stabilization of the cooperation projects that EU has, especially those about Security Policy and Common Defence and the initiatives, like PESCO (Permanent Structured Cooperation), EDF (Environmental Defence Fund), and CARD (Coordinated Annually Review on Defence)”, according to a press release made by MAPN.

Regarding the cooperation with NATO, the Minister of Defence said that we need a consistency in the” planification and implementation process of the allied response in crisis or conflict situations”, but also, “fair contributions to the common efforts of assuring the efficiency of NATO”.

Regarding the romanian-german relation in the Defence area, the two ministers “had the chance to coordinate their positions about the NATO summit from 11-12th of July, in Bruxelles”, and they also discussed “fixing the cooperation in the technical-military area, both parts appreciating the cooperation opportunities linked to the processes of endowment that the romanian part makes”.

The Minister Mihai Fifor, is on an official visit in Germany, between 4-6th of July, responding to the invitation of Ursula von der Leyen, the german Minister of Defence.
