Latvia boosts air defense with BLAZE drones. Latvia has signed a multi-year agreement with Origin Robotics for the procurement of BLAZE interceptor drones designed to destroy hostile UAVs and loitering munitions. The system, developed in Latvia, uses radar and AI for target detection and can be updated annually, ensuring the armed forces always receive the latest version. The agreement also allows other European countries to join through a joint procurement mechanism funded by the EU’s SAFE program. (The Drone Front)
Ukrainian naval drones attract Gulf interest. Ukraine’s Magura V5 naval drones are gaining attention from Gulf states following their operational success in the Black Sea against Russian naval forces. The uncrewed system became the first of its kind to sink warships in combat, demonstrating the effectiveness of low-cost, attritable platforms against high-value targets. SYOS enters subsea operations with the SU10 drone. SYOS has launched the SU10 autonomous underwater vehicle for surveillance, mine detection, and subsea infrastructure protection. It can operate at depths of up to 500 meters, transmit real-time data via fiber optic tether, and run for up to 10 hours. Challenger 3 nears frontline readiness. Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land has confirmed that trials of the Challenger 3 main battle tank are progressing under realistic battlefield conditions. The upgrade transforms the Challenger 2 into a NATO-compatible platform, replacing its rifled 120mm gun with a smoothbore cannon and significantly improving mobility, digital integration, and firepower. “Stealth in a spray can” for drones and aircraft. A Turkish defense startup claims to have developed Kürşat 3.0, a spray-on radar-absorbing coating that reduces detectability of aircraft and drones. According to founder Yunus İnce, the material can absorb significant radar energy, potentially offering a low-cost alternative to traditional stealth materials and reshaping drone survivability against modern air defense systems. China’s “Bohai Sea Monster” raises combat speculation. New imagery of China’s experimental wing-in-ground-effect vehicle suggests it may be armed, with four external weapon pylons now visible. The craft flies just meters above the sea surface at high speed, staying below radar coverage, and draws conceptual parallels to Cold War Soviet designs such as the “Caspian Sea Monster.”

U.S. special forces push AI to the tactical edge. The United States Special Operations Command is seeking AI systems that can operate without cloud connectivity, directly at the battlefield edge. The goal is to reduce cognitive load on operators, enable voice-driven control, and integrate autonomous drone coordination in real time.
