Dănuţ-Sebastian Neculăescu is Romania's new envoy to NATO
Mihai DraghiciDănuţ-Sebastian Neculăescu is the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, permanent representative of Romania to NATO and head of the Permanent Delegation of Romania to NATO, has announced the Presidential Administration.

The president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, signed on Monday a decree on the accreditation of mr. Dănuţ-Sebastian Neculăescu as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, permanent representative of Romania to NATO and head of the Permanent Delegation of Romania to NATO, has stated the Presidential Administration.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dănuţ Sebastian Neculăescu was secretary of state for Strategic Affairs, is a career diplomat and has been working in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since October 2002. During 2017-2019 he held the position of secretary of state for Eastern Neighborhood Relations and World Multilateral Relations. During his diplomatic career, he held responsibilities both in the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the foreign diplomatic service.
Between April and July 2017, he served as a state counselor in the prime minister's own working apparatus.
"He has contributed to the deepening of the strategic dialogue with the US, including by participating in consultations during the Fifth meeting of the Task Force for the implementation of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century between Romania and the US. Also, among the main lines of the term was the consolidation of the bilateral Strategic Partnership for European integration of the Republic of Moldova", according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On 10 November, 2021, president Klaus Iohannis signed several decrees for the recall of several ambassadors to the country, including the heads of the Permanent Delegations to the EU and NATO, Luminiţa Odobescu and Stelian Stoian.
